Ben Tinsley
Ben Tinsley (b. 1981 Chicago, IL) is known for his use of color, shape, and dimensional use of oil paint. Often carving out a composition through thick layers of scrapped paint. The result is sculptural and dynamic. The collage like juxtaposition of form, color, shape, and texture work together to create visual harmony throughout his works.
As the son of a sculptor, Ben was immersed in the world of art from a young age. Ben began his painting career as a student at The Chicago Academy for the Arts. He further honed his talents at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he pursued his BFA. Ben then went on to obtain his MFA degree at Indiana University in 2012.
Ben's current artistic practice takes place in his converted garage in Chicago. His studio and home have become central to his work. A place for creative evolution, growth, and a profound connection to both family and creativity.
Represented by McCormick Gallery, his work has garnered recognition and respect within the art community. Ben’s work has been exhibited in numerous solo shows, as well as being a part of artistic collaborations at the Union League Club, the Chicago Cultural Center, Art Miami, and Expo Chicago. His work is in both international corporate and private collections.
